A professional digital signage provider sought ways to improve their wearable LCD panels to facilitate better advertising solutions. Equipped with an overhead LCD display, the wearable digital signage can move with the target audience to increase advertising exposure. However, the traditional LCD panels were heavy and power hungry, which limits the portability. Reflection on the LCD screen also reduces legibility especially in strong sunlight.
After a full discussion of system requirements with the customer, Bifa developed a 19-inch industrial LCD panel that improve display contrast and legibility in strong sunlight condition, and also reduce the display weight to improve mobility.
To improve the screen readability, Bifa's engineers increased the pass rate of the LCD panels, and adjusted the backlight unit to raise the peak brightness of up to 1200 nits to ensure high quality visibility in outdoor sunlight conditions.
The original LCD panel weighed 2.4 kg, which was heavy to carry around. The new panel design reduces the weight to 1 kg.
Through our engineering, the power consumption of the digital signage has been reduced by 30%. At the end, the new LCD panel has lower power consumption and higher LCD brightness.
